This I Believe

Record audio or upload mp3 >> My name is Reed Michelini, and I believe that music can change lives. It was supposed to be the three day hiking trip in the Pictured Rocks that changed my life. Not the three hour car ride going there. You’re probably thinking that there was some catastrophic event that occured during this car ride, which changed my life. That was not the case. Instead, it was the music that we listened to, driving through the wilderness, on our way to the Upper Peninsula. I was fifteen years old, and six others and I packed into the van that would bring us to our adventure. Before this trip, my music vocabulary was seriously lacking, and it had a very small role in my life. At the time, I didn’t realize how the music that the driver of the van played was going to drastically steer my life in a different direction. Without a phone, I made mental notes in my head of some of the bands we listened to on our trip up. Pink Floyd. The Eagles. The Rolling Stones. I pa...

Fantasy/Science Fiction

Image
I prefer to read fantasy over science fiction. Some of my fantasy novels that I have read are The Ranger's Apprentice, Harry Potter, The Lightning Thief, and many others. I prefect fantasy over science fiction, because it expands what is possible. In fantasy, literally anything you think of can become reality, I really enjoy that aspect of the genre. I still really enjoy science fiction, such as the Hunger Games novels. In the end though, fantasy is my favorite over science fiction.  My favorite fantasy or science fiction location from a novel or movie is the Star Wars universe. When I was a kid, I was absolutely obsessed with Star Wars, and the characters/setting. I love how unique each character is, and the different characteristics of the universe. I would want to go there myself. Despite the constant danger that the characters were always in, I think it would be a crazy adventure, and would be worth whatever happens.

The Art of Racing in the Rain Book Review

The Art of Racing in the Rain Book Review Garth Stein’s novel, The Art of Racing in the Rain, introduces readers to the narrator Enzo, who is a rather special character. Enzo is a dog. Enzo, however, is unlike other dogs. Enzo believes himself to be more of a human than a dog, and he goes about his everyday life, alongside his owner Denny. Denny, an aspiring race car driver, is married to his wife Eve, and together they share a daughter, named Zoe. Enzo, because of his perspective as a dog, is able to see all sides of the family, no matter how good, or bad. In this novel, Enzo is just an observer to the pain that is constantly riddling this family’s life. Although he can not do much, Enzo works to the best of his ability fulfill his duty as a dog, as he often points out in the novel. This novel tells the story of a struggling family, led by aspiring racecar Denny Swift, and together he and Enzo go on a race that will shape their life as they know it. One thing that I really enjoy...
