1. I have had mixed experiences with English classes at U of D so far. As a student, I enjoy English a lot. My experience just depended on the teacher that I had, and the classroom environment. One thing that I really enjoy about English classes at U of D is the fact that we can let our creativity flow, and it has always been an interesting subject to me. In English class, it is really interesting to gather in a circle, and just discuss what we are reading. This allows all of us to see each others perspective,
2. I enjoy reading certain genres. Some of my favorite genres are nonfiction, and historical fiction. I really enjoy these genres, because I like to learn about the past, and I find it helpful to know certain things. Whether it is a book on a band from the 60s, or an event that happened 100 years ago, I find these genres very interesting, and they are my favorite.
3. Out of this class, I hope to get a new appreciation for different genres of books. Right now, I mostly enjoy nonfiction, and historical fiction. I hope that by the end of this class, I will enjoy more genres, and have a stronger desire to pick up a book and read.

Did not even think about the classroom environment in my response but definitely a huge factor in an English class. Also whats your favorite nonfiction novel?
ReplyDeleteI love the genres that you pointed out and I think that they are one of the most interesting.
ReplyDeletei agree on the circle technique
ReplyDeleteI agree, how much I liked english depended on which teacher I had. I also hope to get a new appreciation for different books.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it depends on the teacher who you have. If you had a good teacher and a good class, you will have a fun English class.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Reed, and congratulations on your first blog post! I agree that your English class experience can differ depending on who is in the front of the classroom. I like that your favorite part is the discussions because we will definitely be doing that everyday here in our fun, little book club. I could never get into nonfiction myself. I'm way more interested in fiction, however, I think it more depends on the style of writing. If there is a nonfiction title that can read like a fiction one (and not a history textbook), I'd be willing to give it a try! Hopefully, you will enjoy these four titles with us this semester.
